| Qualifications: | LLB University of Otago. |
| Background: | Richard brings extensive legal, governance and management consultancy experience to Tompkins Wake. He has held senior partner and management roles in law firms in Auckland, Wellington and Oamaru and was an executive director for Phillips Fox, a major Australasian law firm. He was also in-house Counsel and Corporate Services Director for an energy supply company.
Over the years, Richard has served as chairman of a number of private and unlisted companies, as well as Radio New Zealand and the New Zealand Chambers of Commerce. He was also Director of the Broadcasting Corporation and of companies in the meat and electricity industries. In addition to his legal and governance roles, Richard has acted as adviser and management consultant to government agencies, and corporate and industry bodies, particularly those in the meat, energy and telecommunications industries. |
| Out of the office: | Richard collects New Zealand art and historic maps, restores Victorian houses and enjoys fishing. |
