Tompkins Wake was very proud to have been WEL Network’s commercial legal advisors on the recently announced alliance with Meridian Energy for the Te Uku Wind Farm Park. Involved as members of the transaction team from strategic inception of the alliance, we have been very pleased to have worked on a project which successfully and efficiently applied a cross-disciplinary approach to a large and complex transaction. Typical of transactions of this nature, tight timeframes were required without compromising deal quality. It also took place in a unique and complex regulatory environment. Phil Taylor, who led the Tompkins Wake team, says that a particularly pleasing outcome was that the negotiations, while robust, were not destructive and have set things up well for a positive long term relationship between the parties.
